A client with a Michigan driver’s license and CDL was convicted of careless driving causing death in Ohio in 2011.
The client’s Michigan driver’s license was going to be suspended for 1 year from their insurance company; however, Tiffany DeBruin discovered an error. The Michigan Secretary of State incorrectly translated the Ohio conviction. This meant that the client’s driver’s license should never have been suspended.
Attorney DeBruin filed a motion with the Michigan Court, who referred it to the Secretary of State for a hearing. Attorney DeBruin then provided paperwork and compared the two statutes across states. She successfully convinced the hearing officer that the Secretary of State had translated the Ohio conviction incorrectly.
Due to Tiffany DeBruin’s attention to detail and professionalism, the client was able to secure their driver’s license immediately.
