Second Domestic Violence Charge Reduced with No Jail or Probation

On Behalf of | Oct 9, 2020 | Case Results, Domestic Violence, Firm News

A client in Shiawassee was charged with 2nd offense domestic violence (punishable by up to 1 year in jail). He had a prior offense as well as another DV charge that was reduced previously. We were prepared for trial and the prosecutor was going to bring up his prior convictions at the time of trial under the prior bad acts court rule. After reviewing the report, speaking with the alleged victim and reviewing the client’s history, attorney Tiffany DeBruin spoke with the prosecutor and her client pled guilty to loud and boisterous (a 90-day misdemeanor) with fines and costs. He was not incarcerated or placed on probation at all.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
