Reduced Charge For Lansing Man With BAC Over .17 In Michigan OWI

On Behalf of | Nov 18, 2015 | Case Results, Firm News, OWI

OWI lawyer Tiffany DeBruin commonly represents clients in and around the Michigan area who are struggling with their pending OWI charges. Not too long ago, attorney DeBruin was hired to help a 30-year-old man out of Lansing, who was facing a “super drunk” BAC of over .17. In the state of Michigan, the legal limit for alcohol consumption is a BAC of .08 and consequently, a BAC over .17 carries more substantial penalties. Fearing he would lose his job, or even worse, serve time in jail, the man hired DeBruin Law.

Regardless of his high alcohol level, the Lansing barber was only charged with an OWI, a significantly lower offense. DeBruin advocated on behalf of her client and urged the court to reduce his charge. Under a strong negotiation, she was able to secure a lesser offense impaired driving. The case was closed, as a result, and the man was not given any probation or jail time but paid the required fines in full. Our client saw no further penalties for his Michigan OWI.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
