Clinton County Man Sees Multiple Drug Charges Reduced

On Behalf of | Jun 13, 2018 | Case Results, Criminal Defense, Drug Charge, Firm News

Recently, attorney Tiffany DeBruin represented a Clinton County client who was facing multiple drug charges, including delivering and manufacturing methamphetamines and possession of cocaine. With a prior conviction on his record that enhanced the meth charge to a 40-year felony, he knew he needed the help of a skilled Lansing drug crimes attorney.

Attorney DeBruin filed a motion to suppress, and negotiated with the prosecutor of the case to reduce the client’s charges and give the client a “county cap,” which was a sentence below Michigan’s guidelines for the offense. Because of this, the client would only face up to 12 months in jail.

Prior to the client’s formal sentencing hearing, the client absconded, putting plea agreement with the prosecutor at risk. Luckily, though, attorney DeBruin arranged to have her client released to a treatment facility. This allowed him to avoid additional jail entirely, and secure the benefit of the original plea deal.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
