An Eaton County client’s significant other accused him of domestic violence when they had an argument that became physical. Both parties were participating in the argument and throwing things. The significant other tried to destroy some of our client’s property in the home and our client tried to stop her, causing some bruises. Before charges were issued Tiffany DeBruin discussed the situation fully with the client and reached out to the officers involved in the investigation. When the officers sent the report to the Eaton County prosecutor, Tiffany DeBruin reached out to the prosecutor’s office to protect the client. After several long conversations with the prosecutor where attorney DeBruin discussed the client’s defense of property as a defense to the allegations of domestic violence. She was able to convince the prosecutor not to issue charges. The client is not only saved from a potential conviction, but even the allegations do not appear on his record.
