Man’s Felony Embezzlement Charge Reduced To A Misdemeanor

On Behalf of | Jun 10, 2016 | Case Results, Criminal Defense, Firm News

Being charged with a crime is a terrifying ordeal for anyone. If you find yourself in a situation involving criminal accusations, it is always best to consult with a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney who can help you navigate this daunting process. Not only can a skilled lawyer work to set you free, their experience will prove invaluable when you need to mitigate the impact of a criminal conviction.

Such was the case for a man charged with felony embezzlement of between $1,000 and $20,000. The police report alleged, the man was exploiting his employer’s return policy by taking various items from his workplace and exchanging them for gift cards. Faced with such a serious offense that would result in a possible four-year prison term as well as a looming felony conviction that would hinder his life long after his release, the man knew that he needed top-tier representation and contacted DeBruin law, PLLC.

Michigan criminal defense lawyer Tiffany DeBruin immediately set to work on behalf of her client. Attorney DeBruin discussed the case with the prosecution and effectively negotiated to have the felony embezzlement charge reduced to a misdemeanor level offense that would require 12 months of non-reporting probation in lieu of a prison sentence. Due in large part to the levelheaded decision to seek the legal intervention of attorney DeBruin, the man could move on with his life without a haunting felony conviction or any time behind bars.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
